One day, I’m going to get into a proper routine, and update my site regularly. One day. I don’t know when, but it’s going to be amazing.
I’ve been making things. None of them were blog posts, but some of them were pretty good anyway. One of them was a tutorial. Ever since I posted the coloured version of Jack Sparrow, folks on deviantART have been asking me about the colouring technique I used, so I made a tutorial for it. It’s fairly straightforward, I think. If you want to see it in action, check out the time-lapse video I made.
This is meant mainly for traditional pencil artists who want to try colouring their pencil art digitally. I imagine it’s a ton less useful if you’re a digital artist, but then again there are already a ton of tutorials out there for purely-digital art. It’s made with the assumption in mind that you know little to nothing about digital art and software, so if you’re more knowledgeable than that, forgive the layman stuff.
If you have any questions, just ask! Likewise, if you use this technique, I’d love a link to what you did with it, or if you run into trouble or want some help/advice on a WIP I’m happy to take a look as well. Have fun with it!
