Lost Love

He spends hours alone in his quarters, trying to commit her memory to paper. Trying to soften his angry hands enough to capture her beauty, the determined set to her jaw, the spark in her eyes. He slashes and crumples his failures, each one a reminder that he isn’t good enough, strong enough, careful enough.

But he doesn’t give up, even when despair overtakes him, when his hand shakes, when his vision grows blurred. He needs to remember.

Digital painting, 2018.
